12 developer portfolio examples worth stealing from in 2026
5 min read
When people search for developer portfolio examples, they usually want one of two things: proof that theirs is not embarrassing, or patterns to steal. The galleries you find are mostly award-winning sites built by people who design for a living. Pretty, and useless as a template. Here is what the good ones actually share, minus the agency budget.
They lead with work, not a hero animation
The strong developer portfolios put projects near the top. You learn what the person builds in the first scroll, not after a full-screen intro that fades in one word at a time. Lead with the work.
Three to six projects, each with a picture
Not twenty. The good ones curate hard. Every project has a screenshot, a sentence, and a link. If you are staring at a long list wondering what to cut, that instinct is correct. Cut.
The writing is short
One or two sentences per project. Nobody reads the full case study unless they are already interested, and they only get interested from the screenshot and the first line.
They load fast and work on a phone
A portfolio that takes five seconds to load loses the recruiter who opened it standing in line for coffee. Fast and simple beats clever and slow every time.
What to copy today
You do not need the custom WebGL background. Copy the structure: your name and one line, a row of projects with images, your stack, your links. That structure is most of the value. If you are starting from nothing, the what-to-include guide covers the rest.
