Seller Tax Policy
How tax responsibility works for connected-account sales on Aksara.
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Seller-collected payments
Aksara is a software platform. Digital-product payments are direct charges on the seller's connected Stripe account. The seller is the merchant of record for those transactions. Aksara does not buy and resell the seller's product.
Seller obligations
Each seller is responsible for determining where it has tax obligations, registering before collecting where required, selecting an accurate product tax code, collecting tax, issuing required invoices, filing returns, and paying tax unless applicable law assigns a particular obligation to Aksara.
Stripe Tax
A seller may use Stripe Tax after configuring its head office address and active registrations in its connected account. Stripe Tax calculates tax only for supported jurisdictions and active registrations. It does not automatically register the seller everywhere or file every return.
Platform fees
Taxes that apply to Aksara's subscription or platform fees are separate from taxes on a seller's product sales. Aksara may add or withhold tax on its own fees when required.
Tax forms and advice
Stripe or another legally responsible payment entity may issue tax reporting forms when required. Sellers must keep their account details accurate. Aksara does not provide tax or legal advice, and sellers should use a qualified advisor for their facts and jurisdictions.
